Don’t mess with your remote

Just an example from today. I received a call from a guy who had taken his remote apart and put the circuit board into a new remote case. Unfortunately he damaged the transponder chip whilst doing this. The transponder chips don’t cost that much but sometimes the information on them does. In this case, i would have charged around £40 to do this for him but as he had damaged the transponder chip it’s going to cost him around £200. The reason for this is that the chip comes “pre-coded” from the manufacturer and when your only chip is damaged its difficult and expensive to programme a new chip to the car. So, don’t mess with your remote.
